Happy New Year, and a Warm Welcome to 2022!

It’s the beginning of a New Year, and a time to both reflect on 2021 and to look forward to all that lay ahead in 2022.

Abstract painting by Claudia Wiebe, titled "Not Much Time Left"

2021 was a year of many challenges for everyone. Covid-19 did not end like we all had hoped, and the impact of this pandemic has touched every one of us. For me personally, the restrictions have added some additional layers and challenges to get my art seen.

However, even in these difficult times, the arts can elevate and comfort us. It certainly has inspired me to create and experiment with my art, and I am so grateful for all the small successes I have experienced this past year…the blessings and the accomplishments.

Some of my 2021 highlights include:

  • Seeing my art find new homes, touching the souls and warming the lives of their new owners;

  • Having my art displayed in public exhibitions and online shows, both locally and internationally;

  • Participating in ‘Arts in the Garden’, where I showcased my art and spoke about my inspiration; and,

  • Being featured in both the April and July editions of the ‘Apero’ fine art publication.

I am forever grateful for the lessons learned this past year. I feel I have grown as an artist, learning to let go of what I can’t hold onto any longer and being open to receiving what’s ready to come towards me - to move forward is one more step towards a more aligned life.  I give all my thanks and share my gratitude for all the people in my life who believe in me and have supported me along my path.

Looking ahead to 2022, I want to show more of ‘me’ and tell my story in my art, almost ‘putting myself onto the canvas’ – expressing my hopes and dreams and connecting with you.  My ideas on what I would like to paint are grounded in some of my deepest feelings and thoughts, and I want to share those with all of you.

My goals for this year are to let go of preconceptions and expectations, to be brave and determined in my creativity, and most of all, to build meaningful connections with other like-minded artists.

“Of all the pitfalls in our paths and the tremendous delays and wanderings off the track, I want to say that they are not what they seem to be. I want to say that all that seems like fantastic mistakes are not mistakes, all that seems like error is not error; and it all has to be done. That which seems like a false step is the next step

~ Agnes Martin

Wishing you a Happy New Year, filled with courage, passion, love, strength, joy, and many new possibilities. Embrace them all, as these make us who we are…
